Under 18, or were you under 18 in the images? Our under-18 page lists free, confidential help.

1. Save evidence without resharing the images

On Reddit, a poster can delete content and repost it under a new username. Before you report, write down:

  1. The link to each post and comment (⋯ menu, then share or copy link), in the form reddit.com/r/name/comments/….
  2. The poster's profile link (reddit.com/user/username) and the subreddit name (r/name).
  3. A dated screenshot showing the username, subreddit and date. Crop or cover the intimate part: what you need to prove is the post, not your body.
  4. Comments that identify you (your name, town, Instagram handle): they make things worse and should be reported separately.

Important: Reddit says its no-account form does not accept screenshots as evidence, because they can be edited. It needs direct links. Keep your screenshots for the police.

Do not forward the images to friends so they can report them (send the links only), do not reply to the poster, and do not pay anyone promising guaranteed removal.

2. Report each item with the right reason

The reason matters: a "spam" or "harassment" report on an intimate image goes to the wrong queue.

What is happeningWhere to reportReason
Intimate photo or video, real or AI-generatedThe post or commentNon-Consensual Intimate Media
A fake account pretending to be youThe profile, via "Report Profile"Impersonation
Your name, address, phone or personal accounts postedThe post or commentPersonal information
A whole subreddit about youSeveral typical postsThe reason for each post

A post or comment: ⋯ menu (top right of the post, or under the comment), then Report, pick the reason, answer the follow-up questions and submit. Report each post separately.

A fake profile: open the profile, ⋯ menu, then Report Profile. Reddit asks what is wrong (username, display name, avatar, banner, bio) and which rule it breaks. Reddit looks at the username, description, picture and activity. Accounts that pose as you to mislead are banned; fan or parody accounts must say so ("unofficial").

A subreddit: Reddit recommends reporting specific posts that show the problem rather than the community itself.

You can also message the subreddit's moderators, who can remove content quickly. They are volunteers, though: always report to Reddit too, especially if the mods seem to be in on it.

3. US residents: the TAKE IT DOWN Act form

If you are in the US, Reddit has a dedicated non-consensual intimate media reporting form under the TAKE IT DOWN Act. It covers real, "lookalike" and AI-generated images of you or a client. You give your email, the link, a description, your typed signature, and confirm in good faith that the content shows you and was shared without consent. Since May 19, 2026, the FTC enforces the Act: covered platforms must remove valid requests within 48 hours. Reddit says people outside the US should use the regular report button instead.

4. No Reddit account: the help center forms

You do not need to sign up. On the Submit a request page, pick the matching category:

  1. Any Reddit Rules violation: Reddit says people without an account can use its request form to report any violation of its rules (impersonation, personal information, intimate images). Include direct links to posts, comments and profiles.
  2. "Take It Down Requests": the US form above.
  3. "EU Illegal Content Report Form and Single Contact Points": for people in the EU, under the Digital Services Act.
  4. "Intellectual property requests": copyright complaints (section 5).
  5. "Child Sexual Abuse Report Form for Content You are Portrayed in": if you were a minor in the images.

Our takedown request template gives you the wording.

6. Block reposts with StopNCII

Reddit is a StopNCII.org partner (partner list checked in October 2026). The tool creates a digital fingerprint of the image on your own device, without uploading it, and partner platforms use it to detect and block copies. You must be over 18 in the image; AI-generated images are accepted. It also covers Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Snapchat and RedGIFs, which often hosts videos posted to Reddit.

7. Get Reddit posts out of Google

Reddit posts rank well on Google, sometimes at the top of searches for your name.

  1. Content already removed from Reddit: ask Google to update the result with its Remove Outdated Content tool, open to anyone with a Google account.
  2. Content still live: Google's intimate image form covers real and fake images; its personal information form covers addresses, phone numbers and ID documents.

Google only removes the search result, not the page, so the Reddit report is still needed. See remove a Google result.

8. The law and the police

  • United States: the TAKE IT DOWN Act makes knowingly publishing non-consensual intimate images, real or AI-generated, a federal crime, and most states have their own laws. If someone demands money or more images, it is sextortion: report it to the FBI at IC3.gov and see our sextortion guide. The Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, which Reddit's help center points to, runs a crisis helpline.
  • United Kingdom: sharing an intimate image without consent, or threatening to, is an offence in England and Wales (Sexual Offences Act 2003, section 66B), including images that only appear to show you. Call 101, or 999 in an emergency. The Revenge Porn Helpline helps adults with removal. If a fake account is used to scam people, report it to Report Fraud.

Only a police investigation can get Reddit to identify an anonymous account. This page is general information, not legal advice: for your own case, talk to a lawyer.

Get your photos removed from Reddit and beyond

If you do not want to see these images again or keep checking subreddits yourself, our service to remove leaked content handles it: we find the posts and copies, send removal requests to Reddit, Google and other sites on the right grounds, follow up, and watch for new copies: an automated check every day, a full check-up of your online presence every week. For a fake account, see our fake profile removal service. Our team and our AI technology search, document, report and follow up, with formidable efficiency. Every report is checked before it is sent. We cannot guarantee the outcome: Reddit makes the final call, and a police report is still the way to identify the poster. See pricing.

FAQ

Can I report something on Reddit without an account?
Yes. Reddit's help center has a request form for reporting rule violations without logging in. Use direct links: screenshots are not accepted as evidence.
Which reason should I pick for an intimate photo posted without consent?
"Non-Consensual Intimate Media". It also covers deepfakes, "lookalike" porn and stolen or hacked photos. In the US you can also use Reddit's TAKE IT DOWN Act form.
The fake account uses my photos but not my name. Can I report it?
Yes, through "Report Profile" if the avatar or bio imitates you. If you took the photos, a copyright complaint is often the cleanest route.
The subreddit is gone but the images still show in Google. What now?
Use Google's Remove Outdated Content tool for each URL. Also check where the files were hosted (RedGIFs, Imgur): removing a Reddit post does not always delete the file elsewhere.
Will Reddit tell me who posted my photos?
Not directly. After a police report, investigators can request that information from Reddit.
The images are AI fakes. Is it the same process?
Yes: same reporting reason, and the TAKE IT DOWN Act covers "digital forgeries" too. See fake nude deepfake.
